Thakur Vikram Singh was a prosperous man, but inspite of all his wealth from his tea estates and factories, the Thakur was a dejected and sad man. His son Ajay alias Munna Baba inspite of his age remained a child. His actions resembled that a ten year old. All that he loved were two people- Jamuna, the local Munshi's niece and Raju, an orphaned ten year old child.
Thakur Singh decided to get Munna babu married so that his wife could take care of him and take charge of the vast inheritance too; but Munna was bent on marrying Jamuna and thwarrted Thakur's attempts with the help of Jatashanker, the cook. Whilst this drama was on at one end, there was intrigue of another kind at the other. Manager Arjun Singh cleverly hoodwinked Thakur and smuggled charas in his tea containers.

One day Thakur apprehended Arjun Singh and his henchmen red-handed with charas and he rushed to inform the Police, little realising that the evil men had removed the brakes of his jeep. The jeep crashed and Thakur was brought home in an unconscious and bruised state. On regaining consciousness, he revealed to Munna the secret of his twin brother who stayed in the city with his mother.

As Munna left to get some paper in order to take down the Thakur's written statement, Arjun Singh entered and snuffed the life out of Thakur with a pillow. Munna was shocked to see the dead Thakur on his return.
After Thakur's death, Munna Babu wished to leave for the city and meet his brother. This made Arjun nervous and fearing that he may be exposed, took the help of Jatashanker whom Munna had confided in. Jatashanker, in turn recruited two nautanki performers Narmada and Kaveri and presented them as Munna's mother and brother, whereupon Munna requested them to arrange his marriage to Jamuna.

Then Arjun Singh set about his devious plans. He asked Narmada and Kaveri to tell Munna that his marriage could not take place. Munna hearing their refusal was heart-broken. He even threatened suicide which prompted Jatashanker to make Munna write a letter to that effect to his mother and brother.

Little did poor Munna realise that he was writing out his own death warrant. For Arjun, the prospect of becoming a millionaire were brightening while Munna was nearing his end.
